Day 11, the evening post

Is it really day 11?

We were secretly hoping to go home today, so this morning was a little disappointing when the doctors deemed it a “home day,” meaning they would simply monitor urine and ostomy output and caloric intake. I’d say he’s doing alright on all fronts… except the eating and the urine. Lol, don’t judge, one out of three isn’t bad! And the low urine output might be my fault as we took a little walk. A 3-mile little walk in the Colorado sunshine.

We walked (I pushed, that is) all the way down and around the VA, so I’m thinking Justin can charge work for checking on his job. Jody… Randy…

That goose in the picture… Respect. That’s like the 5th Avenue of nest location.

Justin had half his 56 staples removed this afternoon…

I talked to the doctor and it looks like… fingers crossed… we go home tomorrow. I don’t want to jinx it, but I. Cannot. Wait. As long as nothing significant happens overnight, along the lines of a fever or super high ostomy output, an escape is imminent. The doctor also went on to reaffirm how well Justin has recovered thus far from this massive surgery. He never thought he’d be going home so soon and without IV nutrition. High five Justin!!!

Happy weekend, folks! Love always, Christina
