In for a pound

I’ve been patiently waiting for that first pound gained since this all began nearly 14 weeks ago. And here I sit, still waiting.

Justin’s appetite has returned, so it’s not the lack thereof. It’s most likely the frequency of bathroom trips still and the much, much shortened small bowel to absorb nutrition. We are riding the roller coaster of foods that work with his new anatomy and the many foods that do not. What seems to give him the most trouble are sugary drinks, but since he’s sick to death of water, in some respects, it’s worth the consequence.

Justin’s activity level continues to improve. He has many plans for the backyard and bought all the sad and sick plants at Home Depot. We’ve always been like a hospice unit for these poor CO2 breathing friends, so seeing their wilting leaves on our deck confirms to me Justin’s slow, yet constant improvement.

Since my last post, the Yarbroughs have had a couple of happenings. Carter went to camp…

A little hiking with the kiddos (sans Justin) and literally one of my favorite pictures of the year

and a very special birthday. Yes, Bergan made us parents 14 years ago…

The summer holds just a couple more weeks before the kids are back in school and get this, Justin going back to work. I think it’ll do him well… there is only so much Bar Rescue a man can watch. And of course, being near his most gracious work family will be uplifting to his soul. A huge hug and love to ACC for their support through this trying chapter of our lives. 😘 We cannot thank you enough. Especially you, Ms. Randall ❀️

And thank you again, and always, to all of you. Family and friends, we feel the love and see your prayers at work daily!
