Aside from this cray thunderstorm, it’s pretty quiet at the Yarbrough domicile. Justin just woke up from sleeping off the anesthesia from his port placement procedure today. Although it felt way too soon to be back at the hospital, this was at least elective and as a nurse put it, “an investment” in his future.
As I’ve mentioned before, Justin suffers from extreme anxiety when it comes to blood draws, and rightfully so. Several years ago, he was hospitalized on three separate occasions for DVT (deep vein thrombosis), before we even knew that the pesky cancer was even there. Anyhoo, while hospitalized, Justin had blood draws every four hours for days at a time. His veins are terribly scarred and difficult to access. This in turn, makes even the simplest appointment an all out nightmare. Getting the port today will hopefully alleviate much of this stress.

Everything went well so now it’s just working through the pain of the incision.
Thursday, Justin is scheduled to have his IVC filter removed that was placed before his first surgery in April. That will again, be a conscious sedation – type procedure, so another sleepy afternoon in store for Justin. I know having them back-to-back like this stinks, but as far as getting that filter out… the sooner, the better.
On a brighter note, life is slowly returning to normal. The kids started back to school last week and Justin back to work. And the dogs are finally back to getting a full 8 hours of snooze time during the day. They seem much less grumpy. Thank goodness for that!
Oh, and I cannot forget to mention… Justin is up 2 pounds. Moving the right direction, folks!
I hope this update find each of you well! Thank you always for your support.
With love, Christina
Great news! Thanks for the update. Keeping you all in my prayers.
