Not a lot to report for day one of recovery. Justin has spent most of the day either sleeping or being annoyed that he isn’t.
I think one of the biggest problems was the Dilaudid in his epidural. We know from experience that Justin does not respond well to this medication. Makes him angry and sharp-tongued. A side few of you have seen and let me tell ya, you don’t want to. The pain team just got that switched out with Fentanyl, hopefully that gets his headspace a little more chipper.
Justin was supposed to get out of bed today, yeah, that didn’t happen. He told me “I’m always like this the first day” and feels he gets a pass. I tried to strike a deal that he wouldn’t give excuses tomorrow, but he didn’t promise, just mumbled under his breath. Grr.
I don’t think I’ll be staying for the night. Justin asked if I could grab some peppermint oil to aid his nausea and I need to grab a bite to eat, but with the visiting hours, it might just be easier to grab everything this evening and not fight with the staff. After all, it’s their weekend, too.
I’ll touch base tomorrow, see what delights transpire overnight.
Rest well,
Christina
