After the busy morning, today was largely uneventful. Justin was very drowsy. Very. Drowsy. I mean, it was painful to watch him try to open his eyes. He was so sleepy, the ICU team was becoming concerned, but labs were still coming back consistent and unremarkable. Even the latest set of results were good. This is excellent news since last night they were starting to mumble words like… infection.
Justin’s goal for the day was to get out of bed and he met it, twice! He seemed more comfortable in the chair anyway.
While he was out of bed he got his first bath. This was the most alert he’s been, but with three gorgeous women sudsing him up, who can blame him?
After his bath they placed a midline IV. The hope for this is fewer pricks for lab draws as Justin’s anxiety for needles is intense. Although this was discouraged, we felt it best for Justin personally.
As for me, I went home to see the kiddos and their sweet smiling faces. They have been rock stars through this, so understanding and loving and selfless. They are my greatest gift. And seeing Justin in them, an added bonus!
Justin is snoring away as we speak. Something that is typically an annoyance sounds like sweet music tonight. Smiling.
Oh, and one more tidbit of good news, his heartrate is on the gradual decline, hovering right around 100 bpm. This time yesterday it was over 115.
Cheers to Justin’s progress today and hopes for even more tomorrow. Rest well my warriors, ♥ Christina
Great news!
