Good and great

Already some good news to share!!! It’s 8:30 and Justin has already been awake more than the past two days combined. He’s still sleepy, but definitely improving.

Overnight Justin’s hemoglobin level dropped below 7 g/dL, which is the threshold for transfusion, so around 5:30 am they started him on one unit of blood. This was enough as his levels increased from 6.4 to 7.8 g/dL. The team will continue to monitor this with the expectation it will continue to rise.

Justin’s heartrate is still coming down, another really good sign! Consistently under 100 bpm. His blood pressure also looks great, pretty much back to normal.

The surgical team stopped by very briefly this morning. Looked as if they were off to save another life today! But all positive from their assessment. His drains are slowing and the content not as red, meaning very little bleeding, if any, from the gut.

The hiccups have slowed, which is wonderful seeing as this is really the only pain Justin experiences.

He is growing more uncomfortable, another great sign! He’s thirsty and even said he was hungry a little earlier. Still sore in the throat from the breathing tube and dryness, so although he’s more awake, it hurts to talk. All in all, very positive.

I hope you all have a lovely day as I’m sure we will here in the ICU! Updates as I have them, love, Christina
