Today… mostly no bueno.
The morning started off with two significant episodes of being sick. We’re still not sure what happened or why the change from yesterday, but as I’ve said before, everything is normal and we should expect both ups and downs.
Justin had another ileostomy class, which from what I hear was very successful. I think we’ll be comfortable caring for it once we’re home and on our own.
Justin’s IVs had some maintenance this afternoon, as well. I’m glad I wasn’t around for that ordeal… I’m sure choice words were spoken. But they were able to draw again from his midline IV so come morning labs, they can hopefully use it. Fingers crossed.
As far as eating, Justin’s biggest hurdle, he hardly ate a thing all day. The nutritionist now has him on a “calorie count,” but this woman… she wears me out. Her focus is so narrow, I feel the big picture alludes her. (How’s that for trying diplomacy? The struggle is real.)
They removed the other drain tube today too, so all that’s left is his IV! Hooray!
I attended Carter’s choir performance, check out how adorable…

And I had a swarm in the backyard…

But I’m back at the hospital with Justin and although he’s not eating much, his spirits are up and he’s talkative. We’re going to take a little walk and settle in for the night.
Oh, I did talk to one of the surgeons when I got back (you know they hate me) and he was nothing but positive words and reassurance. He pointed out all the things going right… no fever or infection, no bleeding, no pain, ability to walk around, healthy breathing. I was thankful for that conversation as it redirected my train of thought. Yay for doctors who can communicate!
I’ll leave you with this… Pants!

♥️ Christina
Hang in there. This is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s sucks when you have a good day followed by a bad. Glad to see you visited your boy and bees. And Justin and you will be home before you know it…

Yay for pants! Boo for the down. Let me tell you Christina, dieticians/nutritionists are the bane of my existence. They never look at the big picture, they are very narrow minded… caloric information is really their only thought. I feel you on this one sister!!
Hoping today goes back on the up cycle.
