You’ll all be happy to hear that today was a vast improvement from yesterday!
Justin kept blaming the vaccine he received upon discharge from the hospital for his down tick in recovery. Come to find out, our nurse believes that is exactly what happened. Since his immune system is already compromised due to the healing from surgery, adding a huge vaccination on top was a recipe for disaster. But with having his spleen removed, it was a necessary step.
I can’t say Justin is officially up to his 1,200 calories per day yet, but he got close. He also slept in pretty late … until about 11:00, which he clearly needed since his energy was up.
Justin’s home health care nurse stopped by this evening. After talking to me last night, I guess she was expecting him to be in worse condition. Her opinion is that he is still doing remarkably well and to simply keep up the good work. She will likely stop by later this week and sometime next week, then be done. Justin and I have a good handle on the ileostomy thus far, which is her highest concern.
I, of course, didn’t go to work today. I just couldn’t. I still don’t want to and my heart breaks thinking about leaving him, but after having a solid day, that at least eases my soul. And I know he’s in good hands with his mom and grandmother. Heart!
I’m off to put the kiddos to bed and kiss their sweet faces. Sleep tight! Christina
Glad today was better. I asked Frank if you had made it back to work today. I know it’s hard trusting someone else to take care of someone you love, even when it’s family. Try tomorrow if you can. Hugs to you!
