Week 7 updates

I hope everyone is enjoying pre-summer summer! The weather has been pretty darn awesome here in Denver. Most days when I get home from work, Justin is out on the back deck watching the bees, our expanding family of squirrels (we had 4 babies this spring!), and listening to tunes. Seems like a great way to spend his time recovering!

Justin continues to improve every day. He’s expanding his diet, staying better hydrated, and standing a little straighter. Although he still experiences small bouts of nausea, particularly after eating quickly, he has found that briefly laying on his right side alleviates it quickly. I can’t say he has put back on any weight, but his face doesn’t look quite as thin. None of his clothes fit at the moment, so unless it has an elastic waistband, he’s letting us see his Hanes!

Justin has also been venturing outside the house.

He has been experiencing a little bit of soreness after being out and sitting upright for extended periods, in his back mostly, but logically it will take some time to rehab those muscles after being sedentary for several weeks.

Today also happens to be a day worth celebrating!

Yip, 17 years ago today Justin made me one lucky gal! So lucky in fact, he painted this just for me…

❤️

And let’s not forget these little nuggets…

Smiling for days!

Upcoming this next week, Justin has a small procedure to make sure all the resections in his large intestine have healed and are ready to be back in use and a pre-op/follow-up appointment with the surgeon (and maybe the medical oncologist, but Justin is trying to avoid that one). Now that we’re getting all professional with the ileostomy, it’ll be gone in less than two weeks. Yay!

And on a side note, I can’t not mention Maddie’s 11th birthday (11 is an estimate, lol)…

Thank you to all our visitors! I know you brighten his day!

Enjoy your weekend, Christina
