Awakenings

It has been a good day here in room 74!

As typical, it took a couple of days for Justin to metabolize all the anesthesia from surgery and although he still took some respectable naps (mostly this morning), he was awake and conversing for several hours.

Justin is holding steady with the epidural, only taking extra doses when moving about. His heparin was upped today to achieve a more therapeutic range for the DVT in his left leg. I heard lore (before I was here this morning) that the doctor wants to put some contrast in his stomach and perform a CT scan to make sure the incision is healed up before they allow him to drink fluids. Not sure when this will happen, maybe tomorrow. The NG tube is still pumping out quite bit of stomach bile, which means his gut is still “sleeping” however, Justin is insanely hungry. Every Popeye’s commercial that comes on … “that looks so good.” LOL!

Hope this finds you well and as always, thank you for cheering Justin on!
