The Final Stretch

Today starts Justin’s final week of radiation at MD Anderson! Woot Woot!! Hard to believe it has been six weeks, seems both short and long. Short because it’s almost over and I think we’re a little used to long recoveries, but long for more obvious reasons. This is the longest Justin and I have ever been apart in our 21-year marriage. We weather everything together, so this dynamic hits different. I actually long to come home to him watching some ridiculous vampire show. 😉

The past two weekends have been busy for Justin. Two weeks ago he was able to visit some family in the DFW area. Mom and Grandma, his cousins and their children, and aunt and uncle all smothered him in love! He still gets teary telling me about his time with them. Much love to the Wrights and Carters!!!

Last weekend was “Parent’s Weekend” at TTU, which is synonymous with “cha-ching weekend.” Carter and I drove up from Cruces and Justin flew from Houston (via DFW, Amarillo, driving to Lubbock … ugh). But we all made it and got some much needed time as a family. Being in Lubbock and on campus always feels like home, especially in fall, when the air and sun are just different. The game sucked and by the third quarter we were all miserable enough to leave. We did get to see Patrick Mahomes II get inducted into the TTU Super Awesome Sports Club and his name revealed on the stadium wall, so that was cool.

Justin still seems to be feeling ok. Still with the brain fog, minor tingling and numbness that comes and goes, his taste is wacky, fatigue, and a slight sore throat, but nowhere near what we anticipated. So blessed.

Can’t wait to have him home! Thank you for your continued prayers, Justin is our little walking miracle.

xoxo, Christina
