Ready, set…

Surgery tomorrow, folks!

Justin is finally saying adios to that pesky ileostomy, hooray! The takedown surgery is expected to only take a “couple of hours” where they will reconnect the currently exposed small intestine to a “blind end” of his large intestine. Over the past 8 weeks (wow! 8 weeks!) his large intestine and colon have been basically dormant and, over this time, has atrophied. It could take up to a couple of weeks before it begins to function again… and I use the word “function” loosely (no pun intended). We’ve been warned it might be a rough couple of weeks.

Justin’s hospital stay is expected to be 3-4 days, but it could slide left or right.

In preparation of surgery, Justin had a PICC line placed this morning. I know this has relieved some of his stress.

On a brighter note, Justin has felt amazing the past couple of days… eating and drinking well, walking bunches, and dreaming up home improvement projects. He has even taken the kids to the driving range a couple of times and coached their little swings.

I’m proud of all three!

I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated here, so stay tuned. And please keeps those prayers coming!

Hugs, Christina
